won't start until 20 minutes have gone by

I'll be driving and arrive at a location. I'll turn it off and go about my business. When I return and insert the ignition key, nothing happens. Everything works, light, radio, battery is fully charged. If I leave the key on the on position for 10 minutes, then turn it off and remove the key for another 10 minutes, the nit will start. It'll start right up as if nothing.

Check the ECM NEW
by: Anonymous

My 1993 did this. The ECM gets hot and the circuit board expands. The solder which is old and brittle separates just enough to cause a no start. After it cools it starts like a champ. There are places that will resolder the circuit board. Problem solved for me.

VATS LOCKOUT NEW
by: 1990 Z07

The VATS is probably not recognizing the resistor chip in your ignition key. Try a new key. You can bypass the VATS with a kit from Corvette Central if the key doesn't fix the problem. This can look like an intermittent problem as the system doesn't always misread the old key.
