Why does tail light go of when I hit my brakes?

MY LIGHTS ARE ON ....headlights fine.. tail lights fine.
...then i hit the brake... drivers side tail light goes out..let off brake
it comes back on?

I agree with the comment above, but the first place to look is inside the bulb socket. Vettes had weird little bladelike grounds inside the bulb socket that corrode and get loose after so many years. Take the bulb out and look inside, if the socket is corroded or full of crud and old grease, get a new socket from NAPA and replace it. After that, it will most likely be where the taillights are grounded, but Im betting on the old socket being bad. Good luck with it!

Bad ground

Look for a bad ground in your wiring near the tail lights. The use of a Ohm meter and a Voltmeter will greatly help. Otherwise you can look for obvious problems!
