VIN Research

I am unable to find any historical information on my 1976 Corvette based on the 13 digit VIN from the driver's side window post. Is there another location on the vehicle where the VIN can be found to verify accuracy? Thanks.

I also have a 1976 Corvette with a 13 digit vin number. The engine, tranny,or any where else is going to give the history of the vette we are looking for.I want to know who owned the vette before I purchased it,what state they lived in,their name and age, ect, ect.I cant get this from the numbers stamped of the engine, transmission, pillar post or even if it was tatooed on my ass.WE all would really like to know where we can get the history report on our 13 digit vin numbered Corvettes. And nobody seems to be able to tell us anything at all.We need a CARFAX report, but since we have older cars that are much much cooler in my opinion then all the other cars on the road,we cant get the same courtesy in finding these things out as everyone else does.
