Ugly shifter got to go (auto)

I have the early model C6(2005) with the ugly outdated shifter. I was wondering if I could swap it out with the later model C6 shifter, the rounder,sleeker one. I'm not talking about the whole component like the linkage and all that but just the knob. Maybe leave the skirt and shift assembly and change just the knob. This is an auto so no one is confused. Thanks for anything in advance.
