Transmission kicks after a long trip

Hi, i have a 2004 C5. After a long distance trip, i completely stop at a red light. My transmission fluid is around 180 F. i accelerate from first to second gear and the transmission gives a really hard kick, like its slipping. Then from second to third and so on, I can feel a light kick from the transmission. This only happens when i go on a long trip, but in the city i never feel this kick. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. TY
