i have put 2 rebuilt alternators-complete-decoupler,regulator.both alternators had same results.

2002 corvette-auto.replaced alternator because of
decoupler noisy actually put 2 on,same problem.when cold car has to run app.2 miles,put in neutral rev to 2,500 rpm-starts chaging.checked
grounds at headlites no corrison-17,000 auctual nimiles.had fault codes removed,after 3 hrs sitting-same problem starts goes to 11.2 volts,laterkicks in 14+.
INFO.I LEFT BATTERY hooked up,very careful for it
not to touch anything-I now know to unbolt neg.post for any repair.

It sounds like you need a new alternator. It has a built in regulator and it is going bad .Easy to put on ,2 bolts,a ground wire and a plug in.
