starting issue - starter/battery

I have a 72 350 stock vette with a electronic ing - i just rebuilt the engine and replaced everything new starter, electronic ign, battery, altenator, and something weird is going on - the car has a intermmitent problem. most times the car is fine buttwice out of the 5 times ive started it it was dead "nothing" not even a click but headlight are bright all dash funtions lightup - and it seams to be after i run the car on the road - i ran it the other day and i stalled went to start and nothing so we pushed it out of traffic and put a jump to it and it stasrted with no problem i went home and checked the following
new battery
checked voltage 14.86 on altinator and on battery terminals
battery conetctions are clean and tight

one day i came out after running it - i re started no problem then the next morning nothing so i jumped the started and that was fine - i rechecked with the key and it started right up ???????
