Removal of carpet on door panels

I have a 78 standard coupe. I'm going to put new carpet throughout the car and want to replace the carpeting on the doors. The door panels are fine and perhaps just need a quick re-dye, but my question is how is the carpeting on the bottom of those panels attached and is it possible to remove them without damaging the door panel itself.

Thanks Don, I wanted to make sure someone had done that before. I didn't want to ruin the door panels and have to buy all new ones at todays prices for these

The panels are glued on . You can buy the new panels just made for them .JUST START ANYWHERE YOU CAN get under and use a putty knift and scrape them loose
