radio no power

I had battery off for awhile. when i reinstalled and went to attach neg. cable it started to smoke and get hot. i took cable back off. I've done this many times before so i don't think its the anti theft device. radio will not turn on or clock won't work. check fuse #5 . its good. please help? thanks

You might want to load shed some of the cars systems by pulling all major fuses. I suggest taking a picture with your phone or camera of the fuse locations. Then one buy one start inserting fuses until you figure out which system is shorted. Good luck!
