Out of date main computer

I honestly don’t have any issues right now thankfully however, I had heard that once your C6 is past 10 years of age , the main computer somehow breaks down. Something along the lines of an out of date cell phone. Is this true? And if so, what good would it do to replace it with the same but new computer?
