Original engine or not?

I have just retained an all original 1956 corvette from an inlaw. The car has been in storage for the last 35 years. Located next to the car was another engine block with the 90221 or something like that. This engine code as i understand was a corvette block from the St Louis plant. How can I find out if this is the actual engine to the car?
