old? corvette emblem anyone have any info on what year

It is 3 inches round and is spring loaded breakdown hood ornament 2 bolts and a spring on the under side the paper in the box states the name GEM Manufacturing in Chicago Ill. and the flags state a 1982 and prior model and there is a design in between the bottom tips of the flags and a letter c an blue foil back ground from the pick. Can anyone help me identify this part and year or what car it belongs to ???? Thank you Richard....

It has the flex spring to keep it from snapping off.

It certainly is meant to be mounted on a car header panel; hence the safety spring. Gem makes after-market hood ornaments; probably not a General Motors part.
