no visible # on the front of the engine

I have a 1970 350 300 horse 10.25 compression. I always believed it to be all original when i bought it from the original owner about 20 years ago. I am getting ready to sell the car it is in great looking and driving condition, 75 k miles. when I tried to determine the value I know #'s matching is important. There is no sign of a # on the front of the engine! the # on the back of the block is 3970010 this appears to be correct according to my research. is there any reason the # on the front would be missing if the engine is original? and will it make a big difference to the value if I can't prove it is original. Thanks for any help you can give. John.
