My 92 Coupe has the same problem - the LCD display would go off when the car hit a bump and might come back when I hit the top of the dash. Eventually it remained off. The dealer had no clue, kept car for 10 days and gave it back unfixed. I took the display out and carefully resoldered all the connections on the back. Everything works fine now.

Be sure to support the steering column when you unbolt it. I moved the drivers seat far enough forward to set the wheel on it.

This "fix" took all of 3 hours, including the time to remove and replace everything.

The thermal expansion/contraction of the larger terminals eventually cracks the solder. Re-flowing the solder makes the connection good again.

You can have your cluster rebuilt as I just did through Mid America for around 300.00. They are relatively easy to remove, and replace. You just need to drop your steering wheel, remove the bezel trim and it in unplugs from the dash.
You go online to mid america for packing and shipping instructions. I was extremely satisfied with the work and turn around time. Seeing as they are around $1,800.00 to replace, it was a real bargain for me.
