My 2000 corvette often turns off after I give it gas

When I start the corvette, it works fine... until I let go of the clutch and give it some gas, in which it usually stalls out. I have to repeat this process multiple times before it finally takes off and runs properly. If i quickly switch to second gear before it turns off, it works fine... I don't know what that means though. I took it to the dealer and those people said that it never stalled out for them, so I don't know what to do or who to take it to. Any help would be great... I just want to know what the problem could be
