I have recently purchased a 1965 Corvette Coupe that does not have the
proper VIN number or plate under the glove box on the cross frame I know all 1965 Vette Coupes had this start 194375S1_ _ _ _ _ . I am
trying to find out how or where I can figure out the original missing 5 numbers. The car was re-vinned in the State Of Florida but they don't seem to know why or when because they don't keep records that far back.
The car does not have the original engine or transmission . It was originally Nassau blue with blue interior ,it has a 80 psi oil pressure gauge and a 6500 rpm redline tach. It also has disc brake delete ,which I am told there was only 316 with this option delete.
It does not have a rear sway bar and appears to be a 327-350hp ? equipped car ?
I have been told to check the build sheet on top of the fuel tank
BUT I find out that didn't start till 1966 or 1967 ? I have been told there is a number on the frame somewhere in the drivers door area??
I am hoping someone can tell me how I can figure out the missing end digits to my serial number.
Established in 2008 by Chris Trautman, Corvette Web Central quickly grew into one of the top leading Corvette enthusiast websites globally.
"This website is a passion of mine, just as much as being a Corvette owner," says Chris. He was frustrated trying to find information on the internet about Corvettes which was was not biased or influenced somehow.
He has owned three Corvettes over the last twenty years and does not plan to stop owning one anytime soon.
