jump starting a 1973 Corvette

Need to jump start a 1973 corvette. I see the post on top and they have plastic caps(no connected cables etc.). Is this where you jump start or is there a place where the real cables are connected. I just dont know much about this car. I am buying the vehicle. Always wanted one. I bought a new camaro in 1969. The corvette was a dream. Thank you for your help. You are texting a real dummy, but I am a good person.
