Intermittent Tachometer

by Travis

I have a 1975 Vette with the L-82 350. I installed a new tach but it still freezes up at times at 2000 rpm. Some times if you gun the engine it will start to work and sometimes it will just start working correctly as you are driving...any ideas on how to correct this issue?T

Tach Capacitor

Also try a new Capacitor. The Capacitor is a small aluminum looking cylinder near the distributor. It is necessary for the tach to work, and it can go intermittently bad.

Mine was doing the same thing. Make sure you have a good connection to your distributor. I chased the problem for days until I realized I had a bad connection on the end of the wire. 10cent connection and its worked great since.
