installation of power seat switch on C5 corvette

The switch that is installed now works, but the cover that one would touch to adjust the seat is missing. I have a new switch and would like to installed the cover from the new switch on the already installed switch. Can I remove the cover from the new switch and install it on the older switch with out breaking the new switch? Thanks
