adjust valve

there is an adjustment screw covered by a cap on the p/s valve that allows you to set a neutral position. Even the Chevy dealer didn't know it when they aligned the ft. end.

fluid pressure to the steering assist system. valving in the early vette steering assist located on underside attached to the center link or steering bar...this is normal under higher rpms. (could be air like other response stated). however check the back of power steering pump pressure line etc...fitting. remove fitting from back of pump & check to see if small steel check ball & spring are removed or installed under pressure side of fitting. if checkball & spring are there inline that is normal...if checkball is not there...this will increase fluid pressure above normal pressures. You can increase the power steering pressures of any GM pump output 100 lbs by stretching the spring 1/4 inch...or by removing checkball & spring alltogether. hope this helps. Auto Appraiser*Ned

It is possible that you have air in your power steering lines, take your power steering cup off start your vehicle and turn the staring will back and forth several times.
