I picked up my 96 c4 after having a new fuel pump installed, I drove 6 miles and service engine soon came on steady. . Any help on what could be wrong? I

I was enjoying a little road trip when my Vette stalled totally losing power while driving.It wasn't the battery because I travel with a jump n carry, and that didn't work. .. and I couldn't smell any fuel while trying to start it .
Cuz I was to far out of state I couldn't get towed to my trusted mechanic. So after $488. Me and my Vette are stranded. I just don't want this repair place to mess up my Vette and Rob any money from me.
I appreciate any help that can be given to me
