how to program a new key... NOT THE FOB

I need to purchase a replacement key for my 99 C5 vette. I dont want to pay the dealers prices for programming. can you help??

The key has a resistor built into it.You will need an ohmeter to check which resistor that you have.There are 15 different ones.Ohm it out then get on Ebay and buy a blank with the same reading for about $12,have it cut at your local hardware store and you are good to go.No programming required!
