Headlight Issue

Hi Guys, this is a good one hope you can help,

The other day I replaced my HID bulbs with new ones, as one has gone the others will follow soon.

The pop-up headlight motors working fine also until I changed the bulbs, turn the lights on they pop up off and the went down.

Now what happens is turn the lights on they pop-up as normal, but when you turn them off they stay up until you move the control stalk to high beam when they drop down, you can then move back to dip beam.

What have I done or is this a known issue not a major problem but just annoying, please help.

Kind Regards
Russell Crewe

Headlight Issue
by: Anonymous

I had after market HID ballasts/ignitors installed before and worked fine with no issues.

One thing I did notice as well at the time was all was working correctly after I changed the drivers side units, the problem seemed to appear when I then changed the passenger side units not sure if that is significant.

Along with the bulbs I did change these also, will put back the old ballasts/ignitors to see if the cures the problem.

If not then will do what you suggest and make up a wiring loom conversion with some added resistance to simulate the original lamp loading.

Regards
Russell

Bulbs?

You said you changed your HID headlight bulbs? Do you have an aftermarket HID Kit? If so the lights stay on because of wierd quirk in the body control module not seeing the correct resistance from the factory light bulbs. After market HID systems draw less power and have less resistance. You may need to purchase a specific aftermarket light wire harness that eliminates this problem.
