fuel problem

i have a 1977 corvette, it runs great when its cold and fuel filter will stay full of fuel.(i have a clear filter just before the carb) But when it gets up to temp, the fuel filter won't stay full with fuel and i have to keep my foot on the gas or it will stall. When i pop open the hood i can just feel the heat coming off the engine. but it not over heating its never gone over 200.
