corvette stall

My 1979 corvette stalled when I was driving. All electrical systems such as alarms and lights were still functional. At first I thought my engine had locked because of lack of oil, but it turns out that my engine still turns and it has oil in it. When it happen the car slowed down and when I would push the gas the car would make a clicking noise. I have no idea what's wrong with it.
