"Click" sound @ acceleration (around 25mph), and deacceleration.

2007 C6 Base w/ 25k miles, makes a distinctive "click" when accelerating in the lower gears (2nd-3rd?) Any suggestions before I take it to a dealer? I don't want a dealership to "....see what it could be..." and doing some unnecessary (read costly) work.
