BRAKE light stays on and goes out when ya mash the pedal

On my 1994 corvette the BRAKE light stays on and goes out when ya mash the pedal when you drive the car it seems that the rear brakes are to tight you can smell them if you drive over a couple of miles the parking brake is not on either is there some adjustment some where to loosen the brakes and to get the light to go out?
