81 corvette won't restart after driving 30 minutes

i have an 81 corvette coupe. when you drive it for about half an hour then shut it off go
into the store come out and try to restart it nothing happens. if you wait anywhere from
5 minutes to half hour the car will start.once it starts everything is fine. this happens
about 60% of the time.the rest of the time it starts but cranks a little slow. the battery is new.
