2005 C6 can I retract the steering column lock pin by installing a bypass module?

I've had the steering column lock leave me stranded three times in 6 months. I've had it repaired a couple of times by GM at the tune of over $1000.00 Decided to take matters in my own hands and install a steering column lock bypass module. But my steering wheel is currently locked. I need to know that by installing the bypass module will it make the lock pin retract? If not then I need to know how to retract or even better remove the locking pin.
