1999 vette transmission

I have a 1999 vette with auto trans runs fine till temp gets to 200 deg then it doesn't want to stay in overdrive unless you are giving it gas or pulling a hill when speed levels off or trans is not in a a strain, pulling, or speed levels off it slips a little then drops into 3rd gear is there a sensor that could b bad or am i just hoping i don't need a new trans thank for your feedback.
