1998 convertible windows up dont allow doors to cloe

since i replaced the battery several years ago when the windows are up you cant close the doors as the windows are hitting the weather stripping. i have owned this car since new and originally when the ignition was shut off the windows would go down a little bit in order to open the doors. when car was locked they would close all the way. i cant find any information on a 1998 convertible. i have tried the c6 resynchronizing but it does not work
