1995 Corvette starter problems

I have a 1995 Corvette that sometimes when you go to start it the starter will just click untill I try it several times then it would finally start. I thought maybe it was the battery was low on it but it would eventually start and all lights would work fine. The other day it started just fine but when I turned the key off it was still trying to start even with the key out. Does anyone know what causes this???

The ignition cylinder is going bad. Has to be replaced /repaired by a locksmith.
