1982 crossfire

Car was running great. Put ethanol gas in it and went for a drive. will not run correctly. acts like it is not getting enough gas. have to pump gas pedal to get running. Fuel filter and distributor have been changed. Filter had quit a bit of junk in it. At one point it would run at idle fine. It has sat for a year now and it backfires and will not idle at all. have to continually pump gas to get running.

could it be the fuel pump.

any suggestions?

Drain the fuel for starters and refill with proper gasoline. The crossfire engine was never designed to run ethanol. Ethanol requires more fuel to do the same as strait gasoline. Hence why its not running properly. Stay away from E85! The ethanol can be very corrosive to your fuel system so don't wast any time in correcting this!
