1980 Passenger Mirror is falling?

1980 Corvette passenger mirror is falling off. I recently bought this car from someone, car was recently painted likely to cover up some of the issues. Problem is the mirror was on there with one screw and double sided tape. I'd like to remove the door panel and try to screw this in properly.

can anyone help with this problem?
