1978 Corvette starts but will not idle

Hi all! A little history first. My father-in-law gifted my wife and myself with a 1978 corvette that he has owned since my wife was a little girl. The car ran great until about two years ago. He parked it and it would not start up after that. I fixed that issue (bad start switch) and replaced the battery. The car now starts but as soon as you take your foot off the gas to allow it to idle it dies off. Any ideas of what could be the issue? Any help is appreciated!
