1976 Corvette Turns off while driving

I really don't know what the problem is. I started the Vette up to go to work this morning. I got about a block and a half away from the house and it shut off.
I have no idea what it could be. Yesterday I did a brake job on it and when I went to start it the gas pedal cable broke and had to fix that. Could I have done something while I "fixed" that?
