I replaced the front glove compartment door recently and now I am unable to determine why when I press on the lock plunger button the door doesn't naturally fall open. It simply stays in position without springing out. I have both rubber door bumpers in place. I have never seen any kind of spring mechanism so a bit lost I what actually caused it to open in the first place.
As a temporary fix I had to tie a string to the internal lock cylinder so when I push on the key lock button I can pull on the string to open the door.
Thanks for the help on this basic issue but very annoying one :)

He has owned three Corvettes over the last twenty years and does not plan to stop owning one anytime soon.
