1961 Corvette hood won't open

The hood cables have slipped I think inside the handle. In addition, I cannot get the right side to open even when I pull on that cable. I believe something has happened at the latch.

How can I get in? I thought about a coat hanger and have done this in the past but now I have installed air conditioning and there is no way I want to remove the unit to get a coat hanger into the latch.

Any suggestions?
